The Green Economy Group,This committee is focused on bringing together the twin aims of securing economic growth as a fundamental part of the drive towards a low carbon economy. Using the foundations laid by the Chamber’s Carbon Reduction Group, the Green Economy Group has picked up the torch for business in Greater Manchester, working at a local, regional and national level to make sure businesses can access the full benefits of the Government’s green agenda, by working collaboratively and also being challenging when required. The Green Economy Group is now chaired by Graham Wilson from Parker Wilson Consulting. The Green Economy Group is currently focused on the introduction of the Green Deal and assessing its impact on business and identifying any opportunities for growth. In addition to this, the group is also keeping a watching brief on the various amendments to legislation and taxation allowances from the Budget and other governmental papers. Work is taking place with the Chamber’s Property & Construction Committee to ensure new low carbon regulations and technologies are made best use of.
