A Reminder About Air Conditioning Inspections

    By Phil Grice | Sustainability News - Events | Comments are Closed | 2 October, 2012 | 0

Air conditioning assessments are required for all air conditioning systems with rated outputs over 12 kW at intervals not greater than 5 years. Systems rated over 12kW should have been inspected by 4th January 2011 by an accredited inspector. As part of the process of producing an Energy Performance Certificate, energy assessors must now declare if an air conditioning inspection report is available for the building they are assessing. This data is submitted to the Landmark database, so it is now much easier to find out which buildings are still not up to date on their inspections.

With the continuing phase-out of R22 refrigerant more and more building operators are being faced with the prospect of unforeseen increases in maintenance costs or the replacement of their air conditioning systems. As the cost of recycled R22 increases, building operators must decide whether to switch to less efficient ‘drop-in’ refrigerants, or replace their out dated equipment.

Undertaking timely air conditioning inspections could forewarn you of potential issues with your existing installations and allow you time to plan for any required works, both practically and financially. Contact our CIBSE accredited air conditioning assessors today for more information about an assessment.
