Parker Wilson Sustain were engaged in early Part L Compliance consultation with the Client and Architect for a new office building at Perstorp UK’s Warrington site. The Client had aspirations for a naturally ventilated office space providing comfort conditions for forty employees, plus meeting rooms, hot offices and a project space.
Working with our DSM package and the Architect’s initial design work, Parker Wilson Sustain were able to undertake:
- Natural ventilation and overheating risk assessments to establish the extent of low level louvres and roof mounted vent turrets required to effectively maintain comfort conditions.
- Low and Zero Carbon energy study to establish the most cost effective way to deliver the required 10% on-site energy generation.
- BRUKL assessment to ensure Part L compliance as well as informing the architectural and building services design.
The above allowed the design team and Client to understand how the design would need to develop from the early stages of the project. The main office space is fully naturally ventilated and the building is provided with 30% of its energy demand via low carbon air source heat pumps, which serve an under-floor heating system.
