We have a proven track record in sustainable projects. We have now underlined this commitment by forming Parker Wilson Sustain LLP. Parker Wilson have in conjunction with specialists, been for many years, undertaking dynamic simulations of both the thermal properties of buildings and also natural ventilation paths. In 1999 they were applied to the refurbishment of Buxton Opera House and later in the design of the night purge ventilation system in the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Building at Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Visions Education building in Castlefield.

We have taken innovative approaches to office refurbishment, which have included the use of underfloor cooling system. This enabled the retention of the original vaulted ceilings in the Free Trade Exchange in Manchester. This won a British Council of Offices (BCO) Award for the best refurbished office building in 2007.

It is our view that a building will only remain efficient if the services within it are properly maintained. Therefore in establishing Parker Wilson Sustain we have brought together our skills in undertaking services appraisals, trouble shooting of building services and facilities management. We are also able to manage re-commissioning exercises to improve the performance of services installations.

We utilise TAS software to dynamically model the performance of both new and existing buildings. This is utilised to provide the architect at initial design stage with the necessary information to make fundamental decisions on the building envelope and renewable energy sources. On existing buildings we are able to advise on improvement to the efficiency of existing air conditioning systems, lighting and building operations.

We are able to provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) utilising either SBEEM or TAS software. However we expand the standard reports to provide further information which can be utilised for clients Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) statements. Assembling the information required in order to prepare EPC's, can be difficult. We are therefore able to offer a service to survey buildings, to enable drawings to be prepared, which can be inputted to the software to produce the EPC calculations.

The software for the preparation of Displayed Energy Certificates (DEC's) has finally been released. We are one of the few practices in the country to have engineers trained to undertake these.

Our core services are:

1. Services Appraisals and troubleshooting 'problem' services installations.
2. Preparation of drawings for EPC's.
3. Preparation of EPC's and DEC's.
4. Information to enable BREEM assessments to be done.
5. Dynamic thermal modelling of buildings.
6. Technical advice on renewable systems and energy conservation measures.
7. Provision of corporate social responsibility statements.
8. Facilities management and managing the
re-commissioning of building services installations and controls.
